Time in America – The Hoh Temperate Rainforest

Time is the impenetrable green

Of forest death and rebirth

One upon the other

As they fall and are devoured

Become the young

That

Grows around and up through

The roots

Of all that came before

We are but the transient footprints

On the path

Of a geological age

Measured not in

Years that we

Can understand

So invisible in the travel

Our we

The air has seen us come and go before

But the land does

Not care.

  1. Love the imagery of the jet lag photos. The one of you in the mirror put me in mind of Vermeers paintings and the ones of you in the rainforest are so beautiful, in particular the first one. Your words and thoughts evoke the sense of the timelessness of the forests. Beautiful.
